Top 5 Adventure Series (2020)

Welcome, to Bookgest, the heaven for people who don’t read but digest books, instead of food! This is the first post and I thought what better to do than releasing my top 5 adventure series. These are the books which can make you laugh, make you cry, make you angry, make you oblivious to your surroundings. It makes you feel. Also just wanted to mention that all of the following books have been turned into movies, so just a piece of advice- all of the movies are junk compared to the books, just wanted to let you know! And believe me, by the time you are done with these books your veins will be gushing with adrenaline instead of blood. On that happy note, let’s go right into it!

 1) The Percy Jackson Series

This is my favourite series of all time. With hero’s amazing sense of humour and unbelievable powers, Rick Riordan has brought the Greek myths to life, in turn giving life to the gods of the old age. This series has the perfect amount of everything, sarcasm, romance, desperation, anger and powers except Rick’s never-ending jokes which will entertain you for hours on end. It is followed by the Heroes of Olympus and Trials of Apollo both of which will make you believe in gods, monsters and heroes.

2) The Maze Runner Series

With this series, James Dashner takes us into a maze of confusion, heartbreak, betrayal and anger. He makes us feel the emotions felt by our protagonist, Thomas. With surprise and fear on each turn, this novel certainly deserves a second place in my list. Dashner had set me in the maze of his books, with no way out, walls made of pure fascination and suspense. Once I read the first book, I had to finish the next 4. On that note, he did make the ending troubling and gave room for the reader’s imagination. And as per one of its character, WICKED is good. I know!! Just read the book and you will know what I am talking about.

3) The Da Vinci Code

I know, I know, before you guys spam the comments saying that The Da Vinci Code is not a series but a novel, let me just say this, I know it’s not a series but I needed to put it in because when we are talking about adventure books, I just cannot hold this one out, I mean, come on, this would have made the top of my list if it was understandable by kids. All the historical references and complex wordings cannot be understood by most children and when I was making this list I needed to take into consideration ages as well. Anyways, this book is the best adventure book I have read. It is simply unputdownable and people who like to think for themselves and not believe everything they are told will love this book. It takes you from Paris to London to Scotland visiting important places and hearing theories that you have never heard. I won’t spoil the amazing stories and theories filled in this novel but just let me tell you the gist of it. A Harvard professor finds out that a secret society called The Priory of Sin is alive. This secret society has guarded a big secret from the year 1099 and has been headed by popular people like Leonardo Da Vinci and Isaac Newton. The professor, Robert Langdon has been sent on a hunt for the secret by a murdered museum curator. This book is highly controversial and turned my beliefs upside-down in a second. Just wanted to warn you that if you are a very religious person, you should probably not read this book. Anyways that is your choice!

4) The Hunger Games Trilogy

This series truly had me captured for days on end. With its strong female protagonist and equally strong plot, Collins did justice to the world of Panem. The setting of series is in the future and the author makes us believe that, but not with futuristic weapons or robots but with weird haircuts and skin colouring, I know! Hard to believe, right? I was entranced in the arena’s woods and lake. I guess what the series says is true, if you put 24 teens together, all of them are going to fight and kill each other to survive. Anyways, I don’t want to ruin the story and suspense of this series for you readers, so I won’t say anything more except one thing, Let the 77th Hunger Games begin!!

5) The Artemis Fowl Series

This book is said to be fantasy but according to a highly credible source, that is me, this series is an equal adventure to me. I first read this novel because I wanted a break from all the adventure and mystery reading. But guess what? This series was equally an adventure and once I pick up an adventure book, I have to finish it. Anyways in this book a 12-year-old Artemis who is a millionaire, a genius – and above all, a criminal mastermind kidnaps a fairy to save his family. I know people will feel that this book is for kids and whatnot, of course, it is for kids but also for adults. I know you won’t believe me so here is a chunk of highly confidential info, that fairy is an inspector!

I have read Harry Potter and it IS a really good book, but according to me, some parts of it were predictable and that's why it hasn't made the list
