The Famous Five Character Review

Hey Guys, I am back with another post (at last)! I took a break (for the hundredth time). Today I am gonna be reviewing the five main characters of the Famous Five Series by Enid Blyton. Let’s get into it.

The main 5 characters of this series are – Julian, Dick, Georgina, Anne and Timmy. Getting into the details of them all.

Julian

The oldest and most responsible of the five. He is very persuasive and also a role model for all kids. He has got a way with adults which helps him be trusted and gives a lot of leverage to the five. He is a fun guy who always wants to be well-mannered. He is positive to Georgina’s negative. He is really good at solving mysteries and has obtained many clues that are substantial to most of the mysteries.

Dick

The second oldest of the five. He is in-charge when Julian is not around. He is very loyal and also brave. Many times he gets into trouble. He has got really awesome observation skills and proves to be useful in multiple mysteries even though he doesn’t know intend to. Looks like his luck is very well needed. He adores his younger sister Anne and is really hard on anybody who tries to hurt her in any way.

Georgina

This character is really well thought out by Blyton. Georgina is a short-tempered girl. She has always wanted to be a boy and loves to be called George. She doesn’t respond if someone calls her Georgina! She is ferocious towards everybody who is a threat to her loved ones and also towards people who her dog Timothy doesn’t like. She is a cousin to Julian, Dick and Anne. Fun fact – She owns an island!

Anne

The youngest of the five. She is a timid little girl who loves her brothers and Georgina and Timothy. She also likes to do household chores (I haven’t figured out why would anybody like chores but looks like we can find something weird in her MRI scans) and is in-charge of the food and all that stuff when the five go camping or whenever they are alone somewhere. She hates the adventures they have when they don’t start and loves it when she is in one.

Timothy

Timothy/Timmy/Tim whatever you call him is one of the best dogs in the world (according to George). He is cheerful and protective of the other four. He is very dangerous for the people who the five don’t like. And he is as gentle as he is dangerous towards Georgina and the other three. He doesn’t know why the four get excited during adventures and mysteries but he doesn’t complain because them having fun is he having fun! He always happens to find something interesting which is really important in the adventures. He also keeps guard whenever they are outside. All in all, he is a great dog. Blyton has also shown what he thinks to himself in some books which is always very funny to read.

Concluding this post, I think that all of Blyton’s characters are really deeply thought out. Making such characters and weaving them in your story is a really hard job but she seems to have aced it! This is the main reason why I wanted to do something this different, because it was very interesting to me. And reading this post, I understand better about characters and can surely try to incorporate this new understanding in my books (and no this isn’t a spoiler!) and make them more interesting.
