Best Series for Beginner Readers
Hey Guys! I am back with another post! So yesterday, I my post was about “My Reading Journey and How You too Can Start Reading”. I have got a pretty positive response from you guys and in that post, I had mentioned that the 2 things that are required are a good vocabulary and an interesting book. According to me, both of these things can be acquired by reading more and more books so that you find the kind of books that inspire you. I decided that I am going to give you a shortcut by giving you a list of book series that are really great for beginners, with a simple enough vocabulary and a really interesting plot. You are going to love all of these series! Anyways, without further ado let’s get into it!
1) Percy Jackson and The Olympians
By now almost all of you guys know, that this series is absolutely my favourite series and I always include it in my top 5 books series. This time also, I am including this series, especially because it has played a great role in instilling the habit of reading in me and I will never forget it. So, the basic plot is that a teen boy called Percy Jackson, who also happens to be the son of an ancient Greek sea god, goes on adventures to destroy gods, titans and monsters from destroying the world, and yes multiple times!
This series is perfect to instill a habit of reading in a young mind. It is flavoured with just the right amount of humour, sarcasm, awesomeness, betrayal and sadness. It will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout all the books.
2) The Secret Seven Series
This series caught my interest last year and it affected me a lot. It taught me that more than power what you really need is wit. This series was so awesome that I even did read some extra books on wit enhancement! It consists of 17 adventures, all filling you with a sense of wonder about what even small children can do! Published from 1949–1963 it really gives you hours of entertainment and will surely amuse you to no end.
It is really funny and makes you laugh for hours when you read the way these 7 children fool a big and angry policeman who is kind of the villain in these books. I know! How? Just read the book!
3) The Famous Five Series
This series has kept young readers occupied from the time, legendary author Enid Blyton. There are 21 books in this series all published from 1942-1962. One of the most important reasons that everybody loves this series is because of the awesome characters in it. The mature Julian, the loyal Dick, the aggressive Georgina, the sweet Anne and lastly the loving Timmy. I won’t write a summary of it because it will surely ruin many of the surprises that a man gets when he reads this series.
There are many awesome plots in this series and it is one of the best mysteries that I have read that are so simple that even children can understand them. I would highly NOT recommend this series for adults as most of them won’t like it. By the way I forgot to mention that Timmy is a dog!!

4) The Kane Chronicles
This series is good for a beginner because at the start of the book the protagonists are as clueless about Egypt as the readers are. So, you understand about it with the protagonists. It all starts when 2 siblings who live separately after their mom’s death come together with their dad who is an Egyptologist. He takes them to a museum for a picnic where he does something with ancient stone and releases 5 Egyptian gods, one goes into the brother, one into the sister and one into the father. Unfortunately, the father dies and becomes the host of Osiris, god of death.
Then the siblings find their uncles who tell them about the history of their family. Imagine their surprise when they get to know that their family is full of magicians!! Then they go to prevent the God of Evil, from destroying the earth and all that blah-blah.
Anyways, it’s an awesome series filled with surprise and revelation and will make you truly feel what the characters feel due to the extraordinary words used by the author.
